Memory Support at Wittenberg Village

Every life is a tapestry. Every individual is a unique combination of experiences, beliefs, preferences, routines and rhythms of daily life woven together to create a one-of-a-kind life. At Wittenberg Village, we understand that living with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of age-related cognitive impairment changes many things; but it doesn’t change our respect for the value of every individual.

MyTapestry at Wittenberg Village is a unique approach to supporting and caring for people who are living with Alzheimer’s Disease or other forms of memory loss, and communicating with and supporting their families.

Our Memory Support neighborhood has been specially designed around a social, home-like model to enhance the lives of people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of memory loss. The atmosphere is comfortable and secure. Private suites are arranged around a family lounge area, an open kitchen and a social dining area.

Our specialized care team receives ongoing training, and our innovative Memory Support Program, MyTapestry, takes advantage of the latest research and understanding of the types of environments that help people living with memory loss thrive. We get to know each resident and learn about his or her preferences and rhythms of life. These findings help us shape a person-centered plan of care, customize a daily routine and enhance his or her living environment. The latest proven assessment tools and recent innovations, like the interactive It’s Never 2 Late (iN2L), encourage individuals to connect, engage and enjoy life through the benefits of today’s state-of-the-art technology. This person-centered approach with targeted, life-enrichment programming helps to maintain or enhance cognitive abilities and supports the highest level of independence for each resident.

Family Education and Support

Family members are considered important partners in caring for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of memory loss. Staff maintains regular communication with family members and, at least every six months, hold a conference and care plan meeting with each resident’s family. We also offer educational programs to help family members understand and deal with the unique challenges of caring for a person with age-related cognitive impairment.
