Nursing Care Center Accreditation and Post-Acute Care Certification
Wittenberg Village, a Lutheran Life Community, has received Nursing Care Center Accreditation and Post-Acute Care Certification from The Joint Commission.
The Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization, is the nation’s oldest and largest standard-setting and accrediting body in healthcare. The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits healthcare organizations and programs throughout the United States.
To earn and maintain The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™, an organization must undergo an on-site survey by a Joint Commission survey team at least every three years.
The Joint Commission’s standards of quality look at indicators such as patient rights, patient treatment, medication safety, and infection control, as well as other indicators of patient-centered and resident-centered care.
The Joint Commission develops its standards with input from healthcare professionals, providers, subject matter experts, consumers, government agencies (including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services), and employers.
The Nursing Care Center Accreditation program is designed to help providers achieve, maintain, and demonstrate consistent excellence in the services they provide.
Post-Acute Care Certification honors organizations that provide more advanced, rehabilitative services to patients or residents within the nursing care center setting.
Rehabilitation, called MyRehab at Wittenberg Village, helps transition patients from an acute care setting, like a hospital, to a lower level of care and their eventual return home. Examples of post-acute care include post-operative care, orthopedic rehabilitation, respiratory care, and wound care.
This accreditation and certification recognizes excellence at Wittenberg Village. Rehabilitation and care provided at Wittenberg Village House goes above and beyond the requirements set by State and Federal government bodies.
The Joint Commission accreditation recognizes the highest quality and standards regarding: implementation of best practices in all areas of patient and resident care; professionals, systems and programs capable of, and committed to, exceeding expectations every day; a collaborative approach to care, which includes Wittenberg Village’s clinical care team, physicians, therapy professionals, as well as each individual and their families.
